This past Saturday, 1 August, the Matriculants of 2015 celebrated the culmination of their schooling career at the Matric Dance.

At the Morgensrust estate, tucked away in the Joostenberg Vlakte, you are welcomed by a red carpet, with cameras ready to capture your arrival. As you enter the main hall, you are captivated immediately by the sound of a violinist and the sight of an artist painting the Eiffel Tower.

Each table is dressed in black and gold cloths, with silver crockery decked with pastel pink napkins. Staying true to the Parisian theme, one finds an Eiffel Tower located at the centre of the dance floor.

Upon arrival, you are sure to be embraced by your fellows with beaming faces at the sight of you, dazzling in your attire.

The evening started with a slideshow depicting the course of the Matriculants’ journey and Mr Daly shared a heartfelt speech at the last Matric Dance he will be attending as principal.

The dance floor was opened by our Head Prefects, Keenan Jacobs and Christine Ile, which was soon filled with the entire group dancing to music ranging from modern to Afrikaans to that of the sixties.

One thing that was evident throughout the evening was the strong sense of unity in this group. Each person was elated seeing their friends enjoying themselves.

The Matric Farewell Committee worked tirelessly, ensuring that the evening ran smoothly and that each person felt like royalty.

The evening will not be forgotten any time soon.
